Monday, July 22, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Heavy rain and strong thunderstorms likely today…

Heavy rain and strong thunderstorms will be likely today as a cold front and strong disturbance pass through our area. Total rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches will be likely throughout our area, with some localized amounts of up to 4 inches possible, which would cause flooding in those locations. Some of the thunderstorms could be severe this afternoon and tonight. Click here for the latest Convective Outlook from the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center. Highs today will range from the low to mid 70’s in Northeastern PA to the 80’s to low 90’s in Central NJ.

Tomorrow showers or thunderstorms will be likely in the morning, followed by gradual clearing in the afternoon, as the disturbance and cold front depart our area. Highs will be in the 70’s.

Wednesday through next Tuesday, July 30th, are then looking nice with highs rising from the mid 70’s to low 80’s Wednesday, to the mid 70’s to mid 80’s Thursday and Friday, the upper 70’s to mid 80’s Saturday, and the 80’s Sunday through next Tuesday.

Next Wednesday, July 31st, through next Sunday, August 4th, are then looking variably cloudy with at least a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day. Highs will be in the 80’s.

And check out these amazing photos from Barbara Shuhnicki in Franklin, Sussex County, NJ. She says the high temperature reached 98 yesterday and caused her pool to melt. She also has some great photos of a double rainbow that formed after the storms on the 20th. Thanks for sharing Barbara!
