Thursday, July 11, 2019 - Evening Weather Discussion

Heavy rain tonight and then watching Tropical Storm Barry in the Northern Gulf of Mexico…

Showers and thunderstorms will continue this evening, possibly heavy at times, and then tomorrow morning there will be just a sight chance of a shower or thunderstorm as a cold front passes through our area. There could be some flooding in parts of our area this evening, especially in East Central PA and West Central NJ.  Highs tomorrow will be in the upper 70’s and 80’s.

Tropical Storm Barry developed today and will continue to move west north west, making landfall along the Louisiana Coast Saturday morning. Barry could reach hurricane strength prior to landfall and will bring tremendous rain to Louisiana, which will likely cause severe flooding in many places. Saturday through Tuesday will then be nice with highs in the 80’s Saturday, the upper 70’s and 80’s Sunday, the upper 70’s to mid 80’s Monday, and in the mid 80’s to low 90’s Tuesday.

Wednesday clouds will increase, with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon or evening as warm and moist air starts to stream northward into our area ahead of the remnants of Barry. Highs will be in the mid 80’s on Long Island, the upper 80’s to low 90’s in Northeastern PA, Southeastern NY State, NYC, and in Fairfield County, CT, and in the low to mid 90’s in the rest of our area.

Next Thursday, July 18th, into the morning of next Friday, July 19th, showers or thunderstorms will be likely, possibly heavy at times, as the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry pass through our area. Highs will be in the 80’s to low 90’s next Thursday, and the 80’s next Friday.

Next Saturday, July 20th, through next Wednesday, July 24th, are then looking variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day. Highs will be in the 80’s.

Have a wonderful evening!
