Tuesday, July 23, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Incredible thunderstorms yesterday, and more showers and possibly a thunderstorm today, but cooler…

The storms yesterday afternoon and evening really were unbelievable. Below are some photos and a video. Just look at the size of the hail! I have never before seen hail this big in NJ!

Below is a photo from Wayne, Passaic County, NJ this afternoon, courtesy Mike Michels. That is one heck of a thunderstorm. Thanks Mike!

Below is an unbelievable video sent by Jeff Hertel in Franklin Lakes, Bergen County, NJ of the hail this afternoon.

Below are a couple of pictures of the hail that fell this afternoon at Indian Hills High School in Oakland, Bergen County, NJ.

Moving forward, the cold front that passed through our area last night will bring cooler weather to our area, but the front has stalled just to our south and a disturbance is riding along this front. This will bring us a chance for showers and possibly a thunderstorm today. Highs will be in the low to mid 70’s.

Tomorrow will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to low 80’s.

Thursday is then looking nice with highs in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s.

Friday will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm in Northeastern PA. Highs will be in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s.

Saturday through Monday are then looking variably cloudy with a slight chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm each day. Highs will rise from the upper 70’s to mid 80’s Saturday to the 80’s Sunday, and the mid 80’s to low 90’s Monday.

Next Tuesday, July 30th, a cold front will approach our area, bringing a bit better chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid 80’s to low 90’s.

Next Wednesday, July 31st, through next Friday, August 2nd, it is appearing as if the cold front may stall near our area, becoming a stationary front. This would bring us a chance for a shower or thunderstorm each day. Highs will be in the 80’s next Wednesday and Thursday, and the upper 70’s to mid 80’s next Friday.

Next Saturday, August 3rd, and next Sunday, August 4th, there will be a chance of showers or thunderstorms as a disturbance may develop along the stationary front. Highs will be in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s.

Next Monday, August 5th, is looking a bit better, with variably cloudy skies and just a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the 80’s.

Have a fantastic day!
