Happy Thanksgiving!
Today will be variably cloudy with a chance of a flurry or snow shower in Northeastern PA. It will be very windy, with gusts of up to 55 mph possible, especially late this morning and early this afternoon. Highs this morning will be in the 40’s to low 50’s, dropping slightly this afternoon as a cold front passes through our area.
Black Friday and Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s tomorrow and the mid 30’s to low 40’s Saturday.
Sunday, two disturbances will approach our area, one heading eastward from the Great Lakes in the Northern Jet Stream, and one heading northeastward from the Southeastern United States in the Southern Jet Stream. These two disturbances and the associated jet streams will merge off the NJ Coast Sunday night, causing rapid intensification of the disturbance and creating a Nor’easter. This storm will them slowly move northeastward Monday.
Sunday, there will be a chance of snow developing in the morning, changing to rain in the mid to late morning in Central NJ and on Long Island, likely changing to rain in East Central PA, Northeastern NJ, and NYC in the afternoon, and snow, sleet, freezing rain, or rain in Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and in Fairfield County, CT. It will also become windy at night in coastal sections and on Long Island, with gusts of up to 50 mph possible, lows will be in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s, with highs from the upper 20’s to low 30’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 40’s to low 50’s along the NJ Coast.
Below is the latest run of the European model ensemble mean (the average of the European model run 50 different ways for various conditions) and the latest snow map from European model through 7 pm Sunday when it cuts off but also changes to rain or a mix throughout our area, although it would likely change back to snow Monday morning in many places, but the latest run of the model only goes out to 7 pm Sunday. We will just have to wait and see how all this works out.
Monday will be variably cloudy with a chance of rain or snow, or rain or snow showers, ending in the late afternoon or evening. Highs will be in the 30’s.
Tuesday will be variably cloudy with highs in the 30’s.
Wednesday, clouds will increase with a chance of rain or snow developing at night as a disturbance may develop off the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.
Next Thursday, December 5th, there will be a chance of rain or snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.
Next Friday, December 6th, through next Sunday, December 8th, are then looking nice with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Friday, the 30’s to low 40’s next Saturday, and the mid 30’s to mid 40’s next Sunday.
Next Monday, December 9th, there will be a chance of rain as a disturbance approaches our area. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.
Next Tuesday, December 10th, and next Wednesday, December 11th, there will be a chance of showers as the disturbance slowly passes through our area. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s next Tuesday and in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s next Wednesday.
