Friday, January 24, 2020 - Evening Weather Discussion

A rainy Saturday, a break for the workweek and then a chance of a strong storm next weekend…

Tomorrow a strong disturbance will pass through our area, causing rain to develop in the morning from west to east. There could be a bit of freezing rain tomorrow morning in parts of Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and Fairfield County, CT.  The rain will be heavy at times in the afternoon and early evening, ending at night from west to east. The rain could mix with or change to snow tomorrow evening before ending in Northeastern PA, with a trace to an inch or two of accumulation possible from south to north. Highs tomorrow will range from the upper 30’s to low 40’s in Northeastern PA to the low to mid 50’s in Central NJ.

Sunday will be variably cloudy with a chance of snow showers in Northeastern PA and a chance of a snow flurry elsewhere. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.

Monday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower or flurry in Northeastern PA. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Tuesday through Thursday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s to low 40’s Tuesday, the 30’s Wednesday, and the mid to upper 30’s Thursday.

Next Friday, January 31st, we will have to keep a close eye on a couple of disturbances that will be approaching our area. One disturbance in the Southern Jet stream will be developing in the Gulf of Mexico, while another disturbance in the Northern Jet Stream drops down into the Plains States from Canada. These two disturbances could merge over the Middle Atlantic States Saturday, forming a strong Nor’easter. This will cause clouds to increase with a chance of rain or snow developing next Friday night. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.

Next Saturday, February 1st, there will be a chance of rain or snow as the disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s, or colder, depending on the track of the storm.

Next Sunday, February 2nd, there will be a chance of rain or snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s, or colder, depending on the track of the storm.

Next Monday, February 3rd, through next Wednesday, February 5th, are then looking variably cloudy with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Monday, the 40’s next Tuesday, and the upper 30’s to mid 40’s next Wednesday.

Next Thursday, February 6th, there will be a slight chance of rain or snow as a disturbance may approach from the Southeastern United States. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Have a wonderful evening!
