Saturday, January 11, 2020 - Evening Weather Discussion

Showers/thunderstorms tonight into tomorrow morning with strong winds and then a Nor’easter possible next Saturday…

There will be a chance of a sprinkle or shower tonight and then showers and thunderstorms will be likely late tonight into tomorrow morning. It will also become very windy, with gusts up 65 mph possible in any showers or thunderstorms as a cold front approaches our area.

The showers and thunderstorms will clear out in the morning, except in the early afternoon on parts of Eastern Long Island. It will continue to be windy in the morning, with gusts up to 50 mph possible as the cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 50’s to mid 60’s in the morning, then  dropping a bit in the afternoon.

Monday will then be mostly sunny with highs in the 40’s to low 50’s.

Tuesday, clouds will increase, with a chance of a shower in the afternoon or evening, as a weak disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the 40’s to low 50’s.

Wednesday will then be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Thursday there will be a chance of a shower in the morning as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the 40’s to low 50’s.

Friday will then be mostly sunny, but cold, with highs in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Saturday, January 18th, there will be a chance of rain or snow, or rain changing to snow, as two disturbances will approach our area, one in the Northern Jet Stream, passing through the Great Lakes, and one in the Southern Jet Stream, passing through the Tennessee River Valley. These two disturbances will likely merge near the NJ Coast, becoming a Nor’easter. Highs will range from the low to mid 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s in East Central NJ.

Next Sunday, January 19th, there will be a chance of snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing, as the Nor’easter pulls away from our area. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Monday, January 20th, through next Thursday, January 23rd, are then looking nice with highs in the 20’s to low 30’s next Monday through Wednesday, and in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s next Thursday.

Next Friday, January 24th, there will be a chance of snow as a disturbance passes just south of our area. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Have a wonderful evening!
