Wednesday, January 15, 2020 - Morning Weather Discussion

Snow squalls and strong winds possible tomorrow afternoon/night then snow likely Saturday afternoon and night…

Today will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers tonight as a weak disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the 40’s.

Tomorrow will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or sprinkle in the morning, then a chance of a snow squall, snow shower, or flurry in the afternoon or at night as a cold front approaches and then passes through our area, stirring up some Lake Effect moisture that could reach our area. It will be windy, with gusts of up to 50 mph possible in any snow showers or snow squalls. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Friday will then be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.

Saturday, a strong disturbance will approach our area from the west, causing snow to develop in the late morning and afternoon from west to east. The snow could change to rain before ending at night, especially in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island. Winds could guts up to 40 mph at night, especially along the coast and on Long Island. Highs will be at night, in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Sunday, the precipitation will end early in the morning, then it will be variably cloudy. A significant snowfall accumulation is likely in East Central and Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and in Fairfield County, CT, and will be possible in Northeastern NJ, with lighter accumulations likely in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island. Breezy, with gusts up to 40 mph possible Highs Sunday will be in the upper 20’s and 30’s.

Monday through next Thursday, January 23rd, are then looking nice with highs in the 20’s to low 30’s Monday, the 20’s Tuesday, the mid 20’s to mid 30’s next Wednesday, and the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Thursday.

Next Friday, January 24th, clouds will increase with a chance of rain or snow developing at night as a disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Next Saturday, January 25th, there will be a chance of rain or snow as the approaching disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Next Sunday, January 26th and next Monday, January 27th, will be variably cloudy with highs in the 30’s to low 40’s next Sunday and the 30’s next Monday.

Next Tuesday, January 28th, will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.
