Wednesday, April 15, 2020 - Evening Weather Discussion

Significant snowfall remains a possibility for northern parts of our area Friday night into Saturday morning…

It will be variably cloudy tonight with a chance of some snow showers in Northeastern PA. There could be a coating of accumulation in the higher elevations.

Tomorrow will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a rain or snow shower in Northeastern PA. Highs will be in the 40’s.

Friday, a cold front will stall out just south of our area then a disturbance will develop along the front in the Central United States. This disturbance will then head eastward along the front and through our area Friday night into Saturday morning. Northern parts of our area could actually get some snow with this disturbance, possibly even accumulating snow, and more incredibly, it could even be significant in some of the higher elevations. This is the latest in April I recall the possibility of significant amounts of accumulating snow in our area. Right now, it appears the precipitation will likely start as rain throughout our area, but it may start to change to snow in Northeastern PA in the evening and then possibly into parts of East Central PA, Northern NJ (especially Northwestern NJ), Southeastern NY State, and Fairfield County, CT. Highs Friday will be in the 40’s.

The precipitation will then end Saturday morning. There is a chance of accumulating snow in Northeastern PA, far Northwestern NJ, Orange and Putnam Counties in NY, and Northern Fairfield County, CT, and a slight chance of some accumulating snow into East Central PA, the rest of Northern NJ (especially Northwestern NJ), the rest of Southeastern NY State (especially Northwestern Rockland and Northern Westchester Counties), and in Southern Fairfield County, CT. Highs will be in the 40’s.

Sunday will then be variably cloudy with highs in the mid 50’s to low 60’s.

Monday there will be a chance of rain as another disturbance approaches our area. Highs will be in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s.

Tuesday through next Thursday, April 23rd, are looking variably cloudy with highs in the 50’s to low 60’s Tuesday, the upper 40’s to mid 50’s next Wednesday, and the 50’s next Thursday.

Next Friday, April 24th, into the morning of next Saturday, April 25th, there will be a chance of rain as another disturbance may pass through our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 50’s next Friday and the mid 50’s to low 60’s next Saturday.

Next Sunday, April 26th, is then looking variably cloudy with highs in the upper 50’s to mid 60’s.

Next Monday, April 27th, and next Tuesday, April 28th, there will again be a chance of rain as another disturbance may pass through our area. Highs will be in the upper 50’s to mid 60’s next Monday and the mid 50’s to low 60’s next Tuesday.
