The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southern Fairfield County in southern Connecticut...
  Passaic County in northeastern New Jersey...
  Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey...
  Westchester County in southeastern New York...
  Southeastern Orange County in southeastern New York...
  Rockland County in southeastern New York...

* Until 600 PM EDT.

* At 300 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Up to one inch of rain has
  already fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
           drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Yonkers, Stamford, Norwalk, New Rochelle, White Plains, Port
  Chester, Paramus, West Milford, Ossining, Ridgewood, New Canaan,
  Rye, Ramsey, Ringwood and Haverstraw.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

* Until 530 PM EDT.

* At 324 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
  thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
  the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Newark, Jersey City, Elizabeth, Bayonne, Hoboken, Linden, Summit,
  Millburn, Secaucus, Harrison, Orange, Todt Hill, Verrazano-Narrows
  Bridge, Union City and Kearny.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
