Severe Thunderstorm Warning

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Southern Morris County in northern New Jersey...
  Northeastern Hunterdon County in northwestern New Jersey...
  Northern Somerset County in northern New Jersey...

* Until 415 PM EDT.

* At 336 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Morristown,
  moving south at 10 mph.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Expect considerable
           tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
           roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  Morristown, Somerville, Bridgewater, Madison, Florham Park, East
  Hanover, Chatham, Morris Plains, Mendham, Peapack And Gladstone,
  Chester, Far Hills, Parsippany, Long Valley, Martinsville,
  Millington, Basking Ridge, Succasunna-Kenvil, North Plainfield and
  Bernardsville.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 25 and 42.
 Interstate 80 in New Jersey between mile markers 42 and 46.
 Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 15 and 42.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Protecting yourself from immediate threats to life and safety shall
take priority.  Whenever possible, as long as it does not cause
greater harm, all COVID-19 protective action guidance should be
followed.

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay
away from windows.

In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors
immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough
to be struck by lightning.

  Carbon County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
  Western Monroe County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
  West central Northampton County in eastern Pennsylvania...

* Until 500 PM EDT.

* At 355 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from near Gouldsboro State Park to near Jim Thorpe to
  near Tamaqua, moving southeast at 10 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Wind damage to
           roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible.

* Locations impacted include...
  Lehighton, Mount Pocono, Tobyhanna, Palmerton, Jim Thorpe,
  Slatington, Nesquehoning, Weatherly, Walnutport, Neffs, Pocono
  Pines, Lake Harmony, New Tripoli, Long Pond, Kresgeville, Sun
  Valley, Beltzville State Park, McMichael, Blakeslee and Penn Forest
  Reservoir.

This includes the following highways...
 Northeast Extension between mile markers 64 and 95.
 Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 279 and 301.
 Interstate 380 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 0 and 13.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors
immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough
to be struck by lightning.
