Tuesday, August 25, 2020 - Daily Weather Discussion

Severe storms possible this afternoon and evening and then watching for the potential of a major Hurricane to hit the Gulf Coast…

Very warm and moist air is streaming into our area today ahead of an approaching cold front. As this cold front passes our area later today there will be a chance of showers or thunderstorms and some of the storms could be severe. Click here to see the latest Convective Outlook from the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center. And below is the map of the Convective Outlook for today, but you will notice there is the potential for severe weather again on Thursday, and then we will have to watch for the potential for more severe weather with the remnants of Laura, a disturbance, and a cold front passing through our area Saturday.

After the chance for severe thunderstorms passes tonight, we will then need to immediately turn our eyes towards Hurricane Laura in the Gulf of Mexico. There is a chance that Laura could rapidly intensify, reaching major hurricane strength prior to making landfall along the Texas Coast Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The remnants of Hurricane Laura, a disturbance, and a cold front will then pass through our area Saturday, bringing the potential for more severe weather in our area. Click here for the latest on Hurricane Laura from the National Hurricane Center.

Today will be variably cloudy with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm, and some of the storms could be severe as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 80’s to low 90’s.

Tomorrow is then looking mostly sunny and much cooler, but only for one day, with highs in the mid 70’s to low 80’s.

Thursday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in northern sections. Highs will be in the upper 80’s to mid 90’s.

Friday will be variably cloudy with highs in the mid 80’s to low 90’s.

Saturday, clouds will increase with showers or thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening as the remnants of Laura, a disturbance, and cold front pass through our area. Highs will range from the upper 70’s to low 80’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 80’s to low 90’s in Central NJ.

Sunday through next Saturday, September 5th, are then looking nice with highs in the 70’s to mid 80’s.

Next Sunday, September 6th, and next Monday, September 7th, will be variably cloudy with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s next Sunday and in the mid 70’s to low 80’s next Monday.
