Very strong wind in most of our area and very heavy rain in parts of our area today…
The center of circulation of this tropical storm will pass right over our area today, reaching a point just west of Philadelphia around noon, near Easton PA around 1 pm, near Blairstown, NJ around 2 pm, and then a point northwest of Middletown, NY by 3pm. This will bring very strong winds to areas east of the track of the center of circulation and very strong rain to areas to the west of the track of the center of circulation. Wind gusts of up to 50-70 mph will be possible in Eastern PA, 55-75 mph in Western NJ and on Eastern Long Island, and 60-85 mph possible in Eastern NJ, NYC, Southeastern NY State, Western and Central Long Island, and in Fairfield County, CT. Total rainfall amounts of 2-5 inches will be possible in Eastern PA, 1-3 inches in Western NJ and Orange County, NY (some amounts over 3 inches possible in far Northwestern NJ and far Northwestern Orange County, NY), a half of an inch to 2 inches in Eastern NJ the rest of Orange County, NY, and Rockland and Putnam Counties in NY, a half of an inch to one inch along Coastal NJ, in NYC, in Westchester County, NY, on Western Long Island, and in Fairfield County, NY, and a trace to a half of an inch on Eastern and Central Long Island. Highs will range from the low 70’s in Northeastern PA to the low 80’s in East Central NJ and on Long Island.

With these strong wind gusts, widespread power outages are likely in much of our area, especially in areas east of the track of the center of circulation, with significant and possibly severe flooding possible in areas to the west of the center of circulation (especially in Northeastern PA).

Tomorrow will then be nice with highs ranging from the mid to upper 70’s in Northeastern PA to the mid to upper 80’s in Central NJ.
Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, especially in Central NJ, as a disturbance will develop along the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to low 80’s.
Friday will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers, especially early in the morning. Some clearing will be likely at night. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to low 80’s.
Saturday and Sunday are then looking variably cloudy with highs in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s Saturday and the low to mid 80’s Sunday.
Monday will then be variably cloudy with a slight chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the low to mid 80’s.
Next Tuesday, August 11th, through next Thursday, August 13th, are then looking variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day. Highs will be in the low to mid 80’s.
Next Friday, August 14th, will be variably cloudy with just a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s.
Next Saturday, August 15th, through next Monday, August 17th, are then looking variably cloudy with highs in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s.
