Tropical Storm Sally likely to become a hurricane and her remnants may pass close to our area Friday morning…

Tropical Storm Laura is forecast to reach Hurricane strength later today before making landfall in Eastern Louisiana or Western Mississippi. Luckily, the track has shifted slightly east from yesterday, which will put New Orleans on the weak side of the storm, likely sparing New Orleans from serious damage. Yesterday it had looked like the storm might pass just west of New Orleans, which would have been bad, but fortunately, that now looks unlikely.  Click here for the latest on Sally from the National Hurricane Center.

In our area, it is looking pretty darn good through the next two weeks, with the only exception being Thursday night into Friday morning when the remnants of Sally will likely pass just south of our area, bringing a chance of some showers or thunderstorms late Thursday into Friday morning. Otherwise it will be nice over the next two weeks with highs mainly in the 70’s today, the mid 60’s to low 70’s tomorrow, the 70’s Wednesday, and the mid 70’s to low 80’s Thursday. Temperatures will then drop after the remnants of Sally and a strong cold front pass through our area. Highs will be in the upper 50’s to mid 60’s Friday and Saturday, gradually rising to the low to mid 60’s Sunday, the mid to upper 60’s next Monday, September 21st, the upper 60’s to low 70’s next Tuesday, September 22nd, the low to mid 70’s next Wednesday, September 23rd, The 70’s next Thursday, September 24th, then dropping back a bit to the upper 60’s to mid 70’s next Friday, September 25th, through next Sunday, September 27th.
