Well, these models are just insane, and if they are anywhere near correct, this will be the most snow we have seen in any one storm in a long time, and maybe ever. Yes, the latest short-range American model that just came out has a maximum of 41 inches somewhere near Hopatcong, NJ. Of course, I don't think that will happen, but it isn't impossible as many models have been indicating such a possibility for parts of our area. It also shows widespread amounts of over 30 inches in much of Northern NJ. This is just ridiculous. Also, if this is anywhere near true, I don't understand for the life of me why they don't have blizzard warnings issued. I know, I know, the winds may not officially reach their criteria, but not issuing a blizzard warning for what may be the heaviest snow in some of our lives (if these models are correct), is just insane and unforgivable. You have to let people know the severity of a situation, and calling it a blizzard and warning people would have done that, much like when they didn't call Superstorm Sandy a Hurricane. Sure, it didn't meet the criteria, but then many people weren't properly prepared because they said it was just another Nor'easter. Too many people were not prepared for this possibility, largely because this should have been classified a blizzard, even it it may not officially meet the criteria, but the funny thing is that it may reach the criteria anyway, at least in part of our area, so what the heck? C'mon. Ridiculous. Anyway, below is the latest short-range American model snowfall map. Let's see what happens. It is hard to believe this will happen, or even anything close to it, but even if we get half of this, it will still be one heck of a storm. If you are not going to call this one a blizzard, then what the heck will you call a blizzard. Give me a break...
