Thursday, February 18, 2021 - Daily Weather Discussion

Significant snow and sleet likely today into tomorrow afternoon and then watching Monday…

A strong disturbance is passing through our area today and will cause snow to develop this morning from west to east. The snow could mix with sleet in East Central and Northeastern PA, Northeastern NJ, Westchester County, NY, NYC, and on Long Island, with sleet likely in Central NJ and a little freezing rain possible as well. The precipitation will become lighter and scattered in evening. Highs will be in the 20’s to low 30’s.

Tomorrow there will be snow in the morning, becoming lighter and scattered in the afternoon and then ending in the late afternoon and evening as the disturbance finally departs our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s.

Total possible snow and ice accumulation:

4-8 inches in most locations, with slightly lower amounts possible in some places and slightly higher amounts possible in others.

My snow and ice forecast is based most heavily off the latest short-range American model, which I am going to post the maps from below. We shall see how this works out…
