Wednesday, February 17, 2021 - Daily Weather Discussion


A significant snow and ice storm is on the way…


Today will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.


Tomorrow, snow will develop in the morning as a disturbance develops along the Gulf Coast and then starts pushing northeastward towards our area. The snow may mix with or change to so sleet in the afternoon and evening, and then possibly mix with or change to freezing rain in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island at night. Highs will be in the 20’s to low 30’s.


Friday, there will be a chance of snow, snow showers, or flurries, ending in the evening. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.


Total possible snow and ice accumulation (I am going with the latest short-range American model):


1-3 inches:  southern sections of  Southeastern PA and southern portions of Central NJ

 

3-6 inches:  northern portions of Southeastern PA, northern portions of Central NJ, NYC, and Long Island

 

4-7 inches:  Northeastern NJ, Rockland and Westchester Counties in NY State and Fairfield County, CT


6-12 inches:  East Central and Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, and Orange and Putnam Counties in NY State

Saturday and Sunday will then be nice with highs in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s Saturday and the upper 20’s to mid 30’s Sunday.


Monday, there will be a chance of rain or snow as a disturbance passes through our area from the west. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.


Tuesday through the following Tuesday, March 2nd are currently looking nice with highs in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s Tuesday, the low to mid 40’s next Wednesday, the upper 30’s to mid 40’s next Thursday, the 30’s to low 40’s next Friday, the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Saturday, the upper 30’s to mid 40’s next Sunday, the 40’s next Monday, and the upper 30’s and 40’s next Tuesday.
