Monday, June 28, 2021 - Daily Weather Discussion

HOT today through Wednesday and then cooler with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms developing Thursday and continuing into Friday, but how about Independence Day?

My daughter is currently living in Portland, Oregon, where they broke their all-time high yesterday with a high of 112 degrees, which broke the all-time high that was set the day before of 108. These temperatures that far north along the West Coast are unbelievable and are downright scary.  It really makes you wonder what the heck is going on.

Today will be variably cloudy and hot with a slight chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the low to mid 80’s on Long Island, the mid to upper 80’s along the coast, and the upper 80’s to mid 90’s inland.

Tomorrow and Wednesday will be variably cloudy with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm. It will be hot, with highs in the mid 80’s on Long Island, the upper 80’s along the coast, and the 90’s inland tomorrow, and the mid 80’s on Long Island, the upper 80’s to low 90’s along the coast and in Northeastern PA, and the 90’s elsewhere Wednesday.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms developing in the morning, possibly becoming heavy at times as a cold front slowly approaches from the west. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70’s in Northeastern PA, the low 80’s on Long Island, and the 80’s elsewhere.

Friday and Saturday will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms Friday as the cold front passes through our area and a chance of a shower or thunderstorm again on Saturday as there may be some instability behind the cold front.  Highs will be in the mid to upper 70’s Friday and the 70’s Saturday.

Next Sunday, July 4th (Independence Day), will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to low 80’s.

Next Monday, July 5th, through next Wednesday, July 7th, is then looking nice with variably cloudy skies and highs in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s next Monday and the 80’s next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Next Thursday, July 8th, will be variably cloudy with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the 80’s.

Next Friday, July 9th, through next Sunday, July 11th, are then looking unsettled with a chance of showers or thunderstorms each day as a cold front slowly approaches our area from the west. Highs will be in the low to mid 80’s next Friday and the upper 70’s to mid 80’s next Saturday and Sunday.

Have a fantastic day!
