Concern growing for strong thunderstorm potential Thursday afternoon into Friday morning and then how is the holiday weekend looking?
Today and tomorrow will be variably cloudy with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm today and a chance of a late afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm in East Central and Northeastern PA, Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and in Fairfield County, CT, tomorrow. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 80’s on Long Island, the upper 80’s along the coast, the upper 80’s to low 90’s in NYC, the low 90’s in Northeast PA, the low to mid 90’s in Northwestern NJ Southeastern NY State and Fairfield County, CT, the mid 90’s in Northern NJ and the mid to upper 90’s in inland Central NJ and highs tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 80’s on Long Island and in Northeastern PA, the upper 90’s to low 90’s in NYC, the low to mid 90’s in Northwestern NJ and Southeastern NY State, the mid 90’s in East Central PA and Northern NJ, and the mid to upper 90’s in inland Central NJ.
Thursday a strong cold front and disturbance will approach from the west. This will trigger the potential for heavy showers and strong thunderstorms Thursday afternoon into Friday morning. These storms have the potential to be quite severe with very heavy rain, strong winds, the potential for large hail, and even the potential for tornadoes.
Thursday, showers, and thunderstorms will develop, becoming heavy at times as the strong cold front and disturbance approach our area from the west. Highs will range from the mid 70’s in Northeastern PA to the to the mid to upper 80’s in inland Central NJ.
Friday, showers, and thunderstorms will be likely in the morning, possibly heavy at times, then a chance of shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening as the cold front and disturbance pass through our area. Highs will be in the 70’s.
Saturday will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms as there may remain some instability behind the cold front that passed through our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 70’s.
Independence Day will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm as there continues to be some instability behind the cold front. Highs will be in the 70’s.
Monday through next Wednesday, July 7th, are then looking nice with highs rising from the upper 70’s to mid 80’s Monday, to the mid 80’s to mid 90’s Tuesday, and the mid 80’s to low 90’s Wednesday.
Next Thursday, July 8th through next Monday, July 11th, are then looking variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day. Highs will be in the 80’s.
