Thursday, August 12, 2021 - Daily Weather Discussion


HOT today and tomorrow, then cooling down Saturday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then cooler and watching Fred…


Today and tomorrow will be variably cloudy and HOT with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm tonight in Northeastern PA and Southeastern NY State and tomorrow afternoon or evening, especially in Eastern PA, as a cold front slowly approaches from the west. Some of the thunderstorms could be severe. Highs today will be in the low to mid 90’s inland, the upper 80’s along the coast, and the mid 80’s on Long Island, and in the low to mid 90’s inland, the upper 80’s along the coast and the mid to upper 80’s on Long Island tomorrow.


Saturday will then be mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely, especially in the afternoon. Highs will be in the morning and will range from the mid 70’s to low 80’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 80’s to low 90’s in Central NJ, then dropping in the afternoon as the cold front passes through our area. 


Sunday will then be mostly sunny and cooler behind the cold front, with highs in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s.


The next important feature to affect our area will be what is currently Tropical Depression Fred, which is located near the Eastern tip of Cuba. Fred will continue moving northwestward, reaching the west coast of Florida Saturday, then turning northward and heading up the East Coast of the United States Sunday and Monday, bringing the chance of showers and thunderstorms to our area Tuesday through Friday as Fred may stall near our area. Monday, clouds will increase with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in East Central and Southeastern PA as Fred approaches from the south. Highs will be in the upper 70’s to low 80’s.


Tuesday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in East Central and Southeastern PA as Fred continues to approach from the south. Highs will be in the upper 70’s to low 80’s.


Wednesday and next Thursday, August 19th, will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms as the remnants of Fred stall near our area. Highs will be in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s.


Next Friday, August 20th, will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm as Fred finally departs our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 80’s.


Next Saturday, August 21st, is currently looking variably cloudy with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 80’s.


Next Sunday, August 22nd, through next Wednesday, August 25th, are currently looking nice with highs in the low to mid 80’s next Sunday through Tuesday and the upper 70’s to mid 80’s next Wednesday.
