Wednesday, December 22, 2021 - Daily Weather Discussion


Some snow for Christmas Eve morning?


Today the rain will end in the morning, with some freezing rain possible in parts of Northwestern NJ, Northeastern PA, and Orange and Putnam Counties in NY State, as a disturbance departs our area. Highs will range from the mid 30’s to the mid 40’s.


Tomorrow will be variably cloudy with a chance of snow showers at night and light snow possible in far Northeastern PA, Orange and Putnam Counties in NY State, and in Northern Fairfield County, CT as  a  weak disturbance approaches our area from the west. Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s.


Christmas Eve the light snow and snow showers will end early in the morning in Fairfield County, CT and on Eastern Long Island as the disturbance departs our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 40’s.


Total possible snowfall accumulation:

 

Trace to a coating of accumulation possible:  East Central PA, Northern NJ, Rockland and Westchester Counties in NY State,  on Eastern Long Island, and in Southern Fairfield County, CT,

 

A coating to an inch of accumulation possible:  Northeastern PA, far Northwestern NJ, Orange and Putnam Counties in NY State, and in Northern Fairfield County, CT


Christmas Day will be mostly cloudy and warmer with a chance of rain showers in the morning and again at night as a couple of disturbances pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s.


Sunday will be variably cloudy with highs in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.


Monday through New Year’s Eve there will be a chance of a shower from time to time as a stationary front may develop near our area, with several weak disturbances riding along the front. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s Monday, and the 40’s to low 50’s Tuesday and Wednesday, then will drop to the upper 30’s to mid 40’s New Year’s Eve. 


New Years Day there will be a chance of rain or snow showers as a disturbance may pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.


Next Sunday, January 2nd, and next Monday, January 3rd, are currently looking nice with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Sunday and the low to mid 30’s next Monday.


Next Tuesday, January 3rd, there will be a chance of rain or snow showers as another disturbance may pass through our area. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.
