Saturday, January 15, 2022 - Daily Weather Discussion

Significant snow in parts of our area tomorrow night into Monday morning and then the next potential storm of interest will be next Saturday…

A strong disturbance is moving into the Southeastern United States and will move northeastward tomorrow, reaching our area tomorrow night. This will bring our area a mixture of rain and snow. My current forecast estimate and the snowfall maps from the European and American models are posted below, as well as the European model ensemble mean.

After this storm passes, the next storm of interest will likely occur next Saturday, as a disturbance may develop near the Middle Atlantic Coast, bringing our area a chance of snow.

Total Possible Snowfall Accumulation: Sunday night into Monday morning

Trace to a coating possible:  Southern and East Central NJ, NYC, Long Island, and in Southern Fairfield County, CT

Coating to an inch or two possible:  Southern PA, West Central and Northeastern NJ, Southeastern Rockland County, NY, and in Southern Westchester County, NY, and Central Fairfield County, CT

2-6 inches possible:  East Central PA, Northwestern NJ (except far Northwestern NJ), Northwestern Rockland County, Northeastern Westchester, and Putnam Counties in NY State, and in Northern Fairfield County, CT
