Rain changing to freezing rain and sleet in parts of our area this morning, could potentially lead to some power outages…
The rain will gradually change to freezing rain and sleet in parts of East Central and Northeastern PA, Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, NYC, Long Island, and Fairfield County, CT today as a cold front pushes through our area. Temperatures have been above freezing for the past two days, so roads have warmed up quite a bit. Hopefully this will prevent a serious icing problem on the roads. The ice may get quite pretty though on the trees and grass, and could potentially lead to some problems in Northeastern PA, the hills of Northwestern NJ, in Southeastern NY State, and in Northern Fairfield County, Ct. If the icing becomes bad enough in some of those areas the branches could become weighed down by the ice, causing them to break, which could cause power outages in some of the areas mentioned above.
After this cold front pushes through tonight, it will be nice, but cold tomorrow, and then a disturbance may pass close to the coast Monday evening, which could cause a bit of rain and snow in our area Monday into Tuesday morning, but precipitation should be light, if there even is any, so it should not be a problem.
Nothing much else to talk about at the moment, with the next big system looking to be towards the end of the week after next, so we have time to assess that potential situation.
