Snow, sleet, and rain developing this evening, with significant amounts of snow and sleet possible in much of our area, and watching Friday...
So, this is one of those storms where many of us will either get a lot of snow, or a lot of sleet, depending on which model is correct. The European model has this as a big snow event in much of our area, and the short-range American model has this as mainly a sleet event. Which model is correct? I have no idea, so I will just undercut the European model a touch on the snow amounts, but if the short-range American model is correct even these snow amounts I have gone with will be wildly high. Either way, we will have a lot of wintry weather in our area tonight, whether it be snow or sleet.
The snow , sleet, and rain will develop this evening from west to east, ending tomorrow morning, with just a chance of a rain or snow shower, sprinkle or flurry during the day tomorrow.
Total possible snowfall accumulation:
Trace to an inch: far Southeastern PA Southern and Coastal NJ
1-4 inches: the rest of Southeastern PA, inland East Central NJ, NYC, Long Island
3-6 inches: East Central PA, West Central and Northeastern NJ. Westchester and Putnam in NY, and Fairfield County, CT
4-8 inches: Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Orange and Rockland Counties in NY State

After this disturbance passes the next disturbance to watch will be a strong storm that will pass through our area Friday, bringing another chance for snow, sleet, and rain to our area, with significant snowfall accumulations likely in northern sections.
