Thursday, February 9, 2023 - Weather Discussion

Snow lovers will probably be upset again. Is this the year without a winter?

This winter is just unbelievable. Every time it appears there may be a chance for some snow it seems to disappear or ends up being insignificant. This weekend is looking very similar.

A strong disturbance will develop over the Southeastern United States this weekend. This disturbance will move northeastward, passing southeast of our area. Typically this would put us in very good position for a snowstorm. Not this year. It is just too warm. There is no significant cold air anywhere nearby for the storm to pull into our area. This is likely to leave our area with nearly all rain Sunday night into Monday morning. There is a chance the rain could mix with some snow Monday morning in Northeastern PA, far Northwestern NJ, and in Orange County, NY, otherwise this should just end up being another rain event for most of us.

Other than this, there will be just a chance of a sprinkle or shower from late morning through the night today, with highs reaching the mid 50’s in parts of our area.

Highs will again reach the mid 50’s in parts of our area tomorrow, cooling Saturday to the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Sunday highs will be in the mid 40’s.

Monday, highs will reach the low 50’s in parts of our area.

Tuesday and Wednesday highs will reach the low to mid 50’s in parts of our area.

Next Thursday, clouds will increase with a chance of rain in the afternoon and at night as a disturbance approaches our area. Highs will be in the mid 50’s to low 60’s.

Next Friday, the rain will end with highs reaching the low 50’s in parts of our area.

Next Saturday through Monday are then looking nice, but starting our cool with highs in the low to mdi 30’s, but rapidly rising to the mid to upper 40’s next Sunday and the mid 40’s to mid 50’s next Monday.

Next Tuesday there will be a chance of showers with highs in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Next Wednesday there will be a chance of rain as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.
