HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Chance of a rain or snow shower, sprinkle or flurry today, a chance of a snow shower or flurry Thursday, but the real thing to watch is next weekend…

There will be a chance of a rain or snow showers, sprinkle, or flurry today and a snow shower or flurry Thursday, but all attention has to turn to a potential storm next weekend. Once disturbance will be dropping down through the Rockies as another disturbance passes through the Western Gulf of Mexico. The disturbance dropping south through the Rockies will likely merge with the disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico, turning the disturbance northeastward towards the Middle Atlantic Coast. A third disturbance over Lake Huron may then start to transfer some energy to the disturbance along the Middle Atlantic Coast, causing more cold air and energy to combine with the main disturbance. This has the POTENTIAL to lead to a significant snowstorm for areas from the Southern Appalachians in North Carolina, up through inland sections of the Middle Atlantic States from Virginia through much of New England.

If this storm currently occurs as projected, the snow would start in the afternoon or early evening on Saturday and end in the late morning or early afternoon on Sunday. Significant snowfall accumulation is currently looking like a possibility in our area in Eastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and Fairfield County, CT, with a mixture of rain and snow in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island, and rain or snow in Southern and Coastal NJ.

After this potential storm passes, there will be a chance for rain or snow developing next Tuesday, changing to rain and ending next Wednesday morning, and then another chance for rain or snow the following weekend.
