Warmer with some drizzle/light rain/rain from time to time and then we need to CLOSELY watch Sunday into early Monday…
It will be much warmer this week with highs reaching the 50’s in parts of our area with some drizzle/light rain/rain from time to time as a stationary and a few weak disturbances riding through our area. The strongest disturbance will be Friday, and this disturbance will be Friday, and this will cause the stationary front to move south of our area, allowing cold air to push into our area for the weekend.
A couple of disturbances will then approach from both the Northern and Southern Jet Streams, nearly identically to what happened this pas weekend. This past weekend the two disturbances only slightly merged, still managing to bring more than 2 inches of snow to parts of our area. At the moment, there appears to be a BETTER chance of these two disturbances merging this coming weekend, with currently both the European and American AI models indicating this possibility.
IF these two disturbances fully merge there would be the possibility for a blizzard in our area Sunday into early Monday. Yes, I mean what I say, and I don’t say this lightly. It all comes down to whether the two disturbances and jet streams fully merge. Anything less than a full merger will mean just a normal snowstorm or just a bit of snow, however as of this moment in time, there is actually significant evidence in the model data to support a full jet stream merger, so check back as more information becomes available.
