Evening American Model Increases Flooding Concerns
The fear level has increased greatly this evening as the latest run of the American model now shows the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee bringing Northern New Jersey 3-7 inches of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. It also brings Hurricane Katia close enough to deepen that concern on Thursday and Friday, although she does not get close enough to bring us more rain, this is something that will have to be watched closely. If by any chance she also made landfall nearby we would all need to build arcs. I cannot even imagine the destruction that would happen if we were hit back to back by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee on Tuesday and Wednesday, then Hurricane Katia on Thursday and Friday. Let us hope that does not happen. Anyway, the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee would bring Eastern Bergen, Southern Passaic, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties 3-4 inches of rain, Western Bergen and Eastern Morris County 4-5 inches of rain, Northern Passaic, Western Morris and Southern Warren counties 5-6 inches of rain, and Sussex and Northern Warren Counties 6-7 inches of rain. This would produce some serious flooding if the model is correct. I will post my next update tomorrow morning. At that time we will also have the new European model information to work with.
