The afternoon runs of both the European and Japanese models indicate the possibility of significant snow on Thursday night for Northern New Jersey. There is the possibility of accumulating snow for all areas of Northern New Jersey although temperatures will be above freezing, which will mean it will be a wet snow, so it may only accumulate on grassy surfaces in the valley locations. The lower elevations could get an inch or two of snow while the hilly terrain could receive a few inches of accumulation, with the highest terrain possibly getting 3-6 inches of snow on Thursday night. Wow, the National Weather Service Forecast now even mentions the possibility of snow on Friday in Oakland, NJ! Look at their forecast for Thursday Night and Friday. It is actually somewhat funny. Thursday Night they predict rain and 34 degrees while they predict rain and snow and 52 degrees on Friday.
Thursday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Friday: A chance of rain and snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 52. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
