Strongest Storm I Have Ever Seen Modeled!
Well, the American model went away from the storm completely as it takes the Hurricane out to sea. HOWEVER, THE EUROPEAN MODEL HAS THE STRONGEST STORM I HAVE EVER SEEN MODELED AFFECTING OUR AREA NEXT TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY AND POSSIBLY EVEN INTO THURSDAY!!! And no, I am not joking. Luckily it keeps the center of the storm about 150 miles out to sea and only brings about 2.5 inches of rain to our area, with the 5-10 inch rainfall amounts just offshore, however, when it is 150 miles off the New Jersey Coast, as it is depicted, IT IS THE STRONGEST STORM I HAVE EVER SEEN MODELED! What is truly amazing is that it also manages to pull the cold air down from Canada, as this path would keep us on the cold side of the storm, so the temperatures in Northern New Jersey would only be in the upper 30's to middle 40's for high temperatures while the hurricane is affecting us. I really don't even know what to say other than that when the models show an area getting impacted time and time again this far out, something is likely to happen. It is not a guarantee, but it is a real possibility. The model shows the center going inland on Cape Cod, or Eastern Massachusetts, then moving Westward over New England, probably keeping us in the showery and cold weather through at least Thursday next week if the model is correct. I really can't believe what is going on. It is actually kind of scary. If that center went inland over New York City or New Jersey at that intensity as it depicts it 150 miles offshore of New Jersey, the damage would be just unreal. Let us hope it does not happen. The Japanese model just came in and brings it up the coast as a hurricane and makes landfall on Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, then again with final landfall on the Delmarva Peninsula.
