Afternoon Update

This afternoon's run of the European Model says that I was amazingly absolutely correct with the idea of a major pre-Thanksgiving Nor'easter for our area, and I got this idea right from two weeks out.  The European model has the storm starting on Sunday night and continuing until Wednesday night, for 3 straight days, and bringing us more than two inches of precipitation, which if it were snow would be around two feet.  In fact it shows a second storm moving in that could completely merge with this storm, which would extend the storm through Friday.  I had even mentioned from two weeks out that this would likely be a long-lasting storm as well.  The one important change though on this model run is that it does not show the storm pulling in any cold air from Canada.  I find this a bit strange, but it is entirely possible that it won't be able to pull the cold air down, and that would make this entirely a rain event if that were to be the case.  Again, I am not ready to completely buy into this idea yet though that it won't tap into the cold air.  Remember, the last storm looked like a rain event on the models until only a few days before the storm started, so check back in for updates.  Right now I am leaning 60/40 for this to be a rain event.  This is still subject to change though, so check back later.  I may very well post another update after the evening American model comes out.
