Things continue to look great through next Saturday, with
the only exception being Tuesday morning when we will see some showers and
thunderstorms. Temperatures will rise
each day through Monday when highs will reach the middle 60’s in many locations
in our area. Then all attention turns to
the storm threat for Thanksgiving week, which could start as early as Sunday,
but the focus should be Monday through Wednesday. There are still MANY questions that will need
to be answered with this storm, but in my experience, once the pattern is set
for the season, it tends to repeat the rest of the season. With that in mind, I am expecting a piece of
energy to drop down out of Canada and merge with a piece of energy coming out
of the Caribbean, forming a strong Nor’easter off the coast of Cape Hatteras
North Carolina on Monday, November 19, that will then strengthen as it moves
north to a point about 100-150 miles off the coast of New Jersey on Tuesday,
November 20, and it may continue until Wednesday, November 21, (the day before Thanksgiving and the busiest
travel day of the year). This is
definitely not a certainty and I am going out on a limb here with this
forecast. There is however, a
significant amount of model support for my forecast and this support is becoming
greater as we get closer in time to the potential event. It is too early to tell if this storm would
be rain or snow if it does occur, but my concern is that it could be snow. The forecast temperatures in my 10-day
forecast for next Sunday and Monday are dependent upon exactly how the storm
develops, so don’t pay much attention to the temperatures themselves, they
could very easily change. Stay tuned.
