Well, this is two weeks in a row that it looked like we
would have a snowstorm on our hands, only to have the models change course a
week before. This week the storm stayed out to sea and the models are now
saying that next week's storm will be rain, as the storm cuts to our west.
When storms cut to our west and head toward the Great Lakes, it floods
our area with warm temperatures, just in time for the storm. In cases
like this, it can be very cold before and after the storm, but warm enough for
rain during the storm. I thought we had the pattern for this winter
locked in after Sandy and the first snowstorm hit, but then this week when our
potential snowstorm missed out to sea, it became apparent that the pattern was
likely changing. The question was, what would it change to? If this
storm is an indicator as to our pattern this coming winter, and it might be, it
is a good sign for people who do not like snow. We shall see.
Anyway, in the meantime, it will be nice through Monday, with relatively
warm temperatures and highs in the lower to middle 50’s today, tomorrow and
Friday. It will then cool off for the
weekend. Then on Monday, it will start
our sunny, but clouds will increase in the afternoon ahead of the storm. Monday night there is a possibility that the
storm could start out as light rain, snow, sleet, or freezing rain, prior to
changing to rain on Tuesday morning, so we will have to be on the lookout for
that potential. Tuesday though it now
appears to be all rain as warm air surges into our area with the storm.
