Well, winter has arrived and the snow starts today most
likely. The heavy rain will end late
this morning, possible mixing with or changing to snow in some locations before
ending, although no accumulation is expected. Tonight we will have some snow
showers with a dusting to an inch of accumulation possible in some locations,
and those snow showers will continue into tomorrow morning. Then it will be cold until the next storm
moves into our area for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. This storm has trended quite a bit stronger
on the latest model runs, and now both the American and European models
indicate the possibility of 2-5 inches of snow, starting around 12 midnight to
1am on Christmas Eve and ending around 7am on Christmas morning. Then we will be looking at a much stronger storm
affect our area, starting around mid day on Wednesday as snow most likely,
which could become heavy at times on Wednesday afternoon and evening, prior to
possibly mixing with or changing to freezing rain, sleet, or rain. On Thursday the
rain, freezing rain, sleet, or snow will continue, and change to all snow in the
afternoon before ending on Thursday night.
Significant accumulations of snow and ice are possible (if this falls as
all snow, the accumulations will be 12-18 inches). Then we have a chance of another storm like
the Christmas Eve storm next Saturday night, which could bring another 1-3
inches of snow. I am then watching
another potentially strong storm for the day after New Years. Check back for updates.
