Evening Update
It looks like we will for the most part miss the storm tonight as the main band of precipitation should miss us to the south and east. On radar you can see that the storm is forming just to our south and east, and will have a more significant impact for south Jersey and Long Island. The storm on Wednesday night should also miss us to the south and east, so this leaves us with the storm on Friday, which is still on track to produce a significant snowfall throughout our area. The way it looks right now, the start time has been moved back on most available guidance to around 1pm on Friday afternoon, and ending around 1am on Saturday morning, with 4-8 inches of accumulation still looking possible. The storm will be coming from the west and will exit the coast south of us, keeping the very cold air in place. The storm will likely then turn north and become a Nor'easter, enhancing our snowfall somewhat, but the main effects still should be felt in eastern New England on Saturday. We will then have to watch for another strong storm that is likely to affect our area the middle of next week around Wednesday, possibly beginning on Tuesday. For the past couple of days this storm had appeared more likely to be rain as it looked as if things might warm up for next week, but that is now starting to look less likely. Originally, this storm for Friday had also appeared to be a warm rainstorm, and it is actually turning out to be quite the opposite, so we will need to keep a close eye on the storm for the middle of next week, as the storm may be quite strong and the cold air may remain in place much more than the models currently indicate. We will have to wait and see. Check back for updates.
