A storm will approach our area tonight and will bring with
it a mixture of precipitation when it starts around 11pm, changing to mostly
snow and sleet and continuing overnight, then changing back to a mixture of
precipitation before it ends around 11am on Wednesday. Total snow and sleet amounts should be 2-5
inches throughout Northern New Jersey, although it is possible that more
sleet could mix in, holding the accumulations down in some locations,
especially as you head south of Rt. 80.
This will then clear out through Saturday, although it will get quite
cold on Friday, with highs only in the 20’s on Friday and lows in the
teens. There will then be a chance of
some snow showers on Sunday as a weak storm system passes by to our north. The next chance of a more significant storm
will be next Tuesday as a Nor’easter may form near us, but there are still a
lot of questions about where this storm will develop, so we will just have to
wait and see how much it eventually impacts our area. It will however likely get very cold next
week, with lows in the single digits and highs only in the 20’s. Below is a post I made about this storm potential way back on January 3rd. It may not be a big Nor'easter, but not bad, huh?

Warmth Next Week... And Then......
Well, we are going to see a chance of a little light snow that could
leave a dusting in many locations early on Sunday morning, then we will
see warmth next week that will melt all the snow as we approach or
exceed 50 degrees by the end of the week. Then..... I am having one of
those feelings that I have had before. I could be totally wrong, but
what the heck, sometimes I nail these things from two weeks out, so here
we go. Next weekend the warmth will come to an end rather abruptly
with the passage of a cold front. Then early the following week we
could very well be looking at a rather large Nor'easter, in the form of
snow. It is nearly two weeks away, so who knows, but, I am getting one
of those feelings, so what the heck. You know, Weather on the Edge,
right? Why not. Let me put a date range on this. Some time between
Monday January 14th and Thursday January 17th. Let's see how this
goes. Should be interesting.
