It completely misses us to the south and east. It takes a bit longer to phase the northern and southern stream storms, which allows the storm to slide out to sea to our south and east. This is all about timing of when the two systems phase form the northern and southern jet streams. If they phase sooner we have the possibility of a blizzard with 2 feet of snow. If they phase later, we get nothing, and somewhere in between if the timing of the phasing is between the two.
