Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013 - Evening Weather Discussion
We lucked out today as it had looked as if we would get some thunderstorms today and we didn't. The thunderstorms developed a bit further to our north over New York State, and they are currently lining up across Central Pennsylvania. This line will finally make it into our area by late tomorrow morning and into tomorrow afternoon and evening. These thunderstorms are likely to be quite strong and could produce flooding rains, strong winds, and even weak tornadoes. Then, unfortunately the cold front will stall out and a low-pressure area will form along it, leaving us with a rainy Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and possibly even into Memorial Day morning. Unfortunately it will also be incredibly cold for this time of year this weekend with the highs on Saturday only reaching the upper 40's to low 50's, and only the mid to upper 40's on Sunday. The low on Sunday morning may actually drop to the low 40's as well with the rain, and it is even conceivable that the Catskill Mountains could see a bit of snow over the weekend in the higher elevations. It will finally clear out on Memorial Day afternoon with the highs likely only reaching the low 60's. Sorry.
