Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013 - Morning Weather Discussion

We will continue to have warm and humid temperatures today with highs in the mid 80’s, but we will likely also have some showers and thunderstorms during the day.  Then tomorrow the cold front that brought the devastating tornadoes to Oklahoma will approach our area, bringing with it cooler temperatures and heavy showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.  These thunderstorms will likely be severe, with strong winds, heavy flooding rains, and possibly some weak tornadoes. Then on Friday and Saturday the cold front will stall out along the coast and a low-pressure area will form, then sit and spin until Sunday morning, bringing rain and cool temperatures on Friday, and downright cold temperatures to our area for Saturday with highs only in the mid to upper 40’s with the rain, when it is even possible that the Catskills and Adirondacks in New York State could get some wet snow.   Even in our area the snow may fall from the clouds as snow on Saturday, but melt and change to rain before reaching the ground here, but yes in the higher elevations of the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains in New York State there will be a chance of some wet snow reaching the ground on Saturday.  The storm should finally pull out of our area on Sunday morning, clearing things out for Sunday afternoon and Memorial Day.  Things should finally warm up for good and become rather summer like by the end of next week.
