Tuesday, September 24th, Afternoon Update - Tropical Storm Conditions Possible on Sunday and Sunday Night

The European model continues to suggest that the storm moving off the Southeast Coast today will stall and then develop off the coast of the Carolinas later this week, prior to making a sharp left hand turn and heading back towards the New Jersey Coast on Sunday.  Fortunately this run does not bring the storm inland here though and keeps the center of circulation approximately 100-150 miles off shore on Sunday and Sunday night, prior to making landfall near Cape Cod on Sunday night.  This would however be close enough to us to possibly produce Tropical Storm conditions along the coast and possibly throughout all of New Jersey during the day on Sunday and into Sunday night.  Persons along the immediate coast should keep a close eye on this situation, although it does not appear to be a very strong storm it definitely looks like it has the potential to strengthen to tropical storm status, and possibly even weak hurricane status as it will be moving over the warm Gulf Stream waters.  Please check back for updates.
