Friday, October 11th, 2013 - Morning Weather Discussion

Well in hindsight I guess it should not surprise me that the storm that was supposed to bring us heavy rain yesterday and today turned into a bust for us.  The models had a difficult time handling this storm from the beginning, moving it around from day to day.  While the models did get the idea that there would be a coastal storm correct, the models did not get the location of the precipitation correct and the flooding rains that were supposed to happen in our area remained over the South Jersey and Pennsylvania, where heavy rain continues to fall.  Anyway, moving forward we will only have a slight chance of a shower today and tomorrow, followed by variably cloudy skies on Sunday and another slight chance of a shower on Monday.  Things should finally clear out for Tuesday and Wednesday.  Then on Thursday a cold front will approach our area from the West, bringing a chance of a shower or thunderstorm on Thursday and Friday with clearing by evening on Friday.  Then late in the day on Saturday a strong storm system is likely to approach our area from the Southeastern United States, ahead of a strong cold front, bringing a chance for heavy rain next Sunday, with rapidly dropping temperatures behind the front, giving us a chance of our first vegetation killing frost or freeze for next Monday.  Then things may briefly warm ahead of the next strong storm system to affect our area for the middle of the next week (around October  23rd), when we could again get heavy rain with another storm system approaching from the Southeast.  As this storm starts to move out we should see some very cold air move in and the rain could even change to some snow showers or flurries as the storm departs.  After this storm passes we may be looking at lows in the 20’s and highs in the 30’s for at least a couple of days as we head toward the infamous October 27th date when we will have to watch for any possible storms that might move into our area.  Check back for updates.
