Thursday, November 7th, 2013 - Morning Weather Discussion

We have a chance of a very significant snowstorm next Thursday, as apparently the European model looks to have been the first to catch onto this threat, but the American model may have been quicker at getting the details right this time.  But first, we will have showers and thunderstorms this morning into early afternoon as a cold front moves through our area, followed by clearing late in the day.  Tomorrow and Saturday will then be quite cool with just a slight chance of a snow shower tomorrow and highs will be in the mid 40’s both days.  Sunday will then be warmer with highs in the mid 50’s.  Monday will be a bit cooler with a high in the upper 40’s as the cold front starts to approach and clouds increase. Tuesday morning an arctic cold front will pass through our area, bringing with it a chance of a rain or snow shower early in the morning, and cooler temperatures with the high only around 40.  On Wednesday there will be a chance of light snow as a Nor'easter starts to slowly develop along the Middle Atlantic Coast.  On Thursday morning the Nor'easter will start intensifying quite a bit, increasing the snowfall rates, and very possibly bringing us snow, heavy at times on Thursday with a high only in the upper 20’s to low 30’s.  The snow should finally come to an end late on Thursday night, and if the European model is correct we would have very significant accumulations.  Friday we would then have variably cloudy skies with a chance of snow showers and a high in the mid 30’s.  The following weekend would then be nice but cold with highs only around 40.  Early the following week we may have another storm, although at the moment it would appear that this storm would be rain.  We will just have to wait and see how all this works itself out, but right now it would appear that an arctic cold front will move through our area early on Tuesday morning.  This would allow very cold air for this time of year to move into our area.  Then there is a very real possibility of a significant Nor'easter developing on Wednesday and Thursday that would have the potential to bring us some light snow on Wednesday and very significant snowfall accumulations next Thursday.  The European model actually has the heavy snow all the way down through Virginia and up to Maine, with some accumulations as far south as North Carolina.  The European model was the first model to see this potential with its run two days ago when I started going crazy on this blog and the potential.  The American model was then the first to really hone in on the details, and now we just have to wait and see what happens and if this really does all come together.  Check back for constant updates and tell all of your friends and family about this blog.  Have a great day!
