Afternoon European Model Update
Well, the energy finally came on shore in Southern California and the models now have a much better supply of data. In that regard, much as I said in my post last evening, the storm is now increasing in intensity on the models. The European model now has Northern New Jersey down for 6-8 inches of snow with the possibility of a touch of ice at the end. If it does mix with more sleet or freezing rain it will hold accumulations down a bit, but right now it looks like 6-8 inches of snow for all of Northern New Jersey on Saturday into Sunday morning. Light snow or flurries should start on Saturday morning between 5 am and 7 am and become a bit heavier in the afternoon, and quite heavy at night. It has also increased the intensity of the Tuesday storm now a bit, giving us a full inch of snow and a bit more even in some places in Northwest New Jersey. I would assume that Winter Storm Watches will be issued for Northern New Jersey this evening for Saturday into Sunday morning.
