We will have a nice but very cold day today with highs only
in the low 20’s and then dropping to around 10 by evening. Tomorrow there will be just a slight chance
of a snow shower or flurry and a high in the upper 20’s. Then a storm will form along the Gulf Coast
and start moving northeast on Friday.
This storm will bring us light snow starting around 5 am on Saturday
morning. The light snow will become
moderate in the afternoon, then moderate to occasionally heavy in the
evening. The high on Saturday will only
be in the low 20’s. The snow will end
early in the morning on Sunday as a bit of light sleet or freezing drizzle with
a total accumulation of 5-6 inches with a tenth of an inch of ice
possible. We will then have a chance of
a snow shower or flurry during the day on Sunday. Monday will then be nice but cold, followed by
a chance of snow showers or flurries on Tuesday with a dusting of accumulation
possible. We will then see a gradual
warm up for the middle to end of next week with high in the mid 30’s on
Wednesday, the upper 30’s on Thursday, around 50 on Friday, culminating in
temperatures in the 50’s to near 60 in southeastern sections early on Saturday
morning. There will also be a chance of
heavy rain on Saturday morning as the cold front approaches. The cold front will come through on Saturday afternoon;
bringing extremely cold temperatures back to our area with a chance of a snow
storm on Monday, December 23rd and unbelievably cold temperatures
are possible for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day when lows could drop to
temperatures I have not seen in 20 years.
The models are currently projecting temperatures well below zero for
Christmas morning and highs only in the low to mid single digits, but that is a
long way out so we will have to wait and see.
