Latest Short-Range Canadian Model

The latest short-range Canadian model, which I consider to be an excellent short-range model (much better than ours), shows the same Lake Effect streamer cutting across southeastern New York State and across central Long Island as the American short-range model does, giving those areas underneath that band in excess of an inch of snow, BUT it ALSO shows a band cutting across Northern New Jersey, right now focused on the Route 80 corridor, also giving the lucky people who end up under that band in excess of an inch of snow.  There is a bit of an area between those two bands over Northern New Jersey that gets just a dusting, but it gives all of us a good chance of getting over an inch of snow.  It is just a matter of who is lucky (or unlucky depending on how you look at it) and gets under those bands.  The timing would be between 3 pm and 11 pm, with the main focus between 4 pm and 9 pm.  Please be on the lookout this afternoon after about 3 pm and if you see these bands coming your way, expect snow to develop rapidly and become extremely heavy for brief periods of time, causing the possibility of white-out conditions and extremely slippery roads conditions with rapidly accumulating snow with little notice.  This will likely lead to many car accidents as the roads will be very busy with holiday travelers.  PLEASE BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL THIS AFTERNOON AND TELL ALL OF YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS AS WELL!!!  THIS WILL ABSOLUTELY CATCH PEOPLE OFF GUARD IF IT DOES INDEED DEVELOP.  I MEAN LOOK OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW, BRIGHT BEAUTIFUL BLUE SKIES, POSSIBLY FOLLOWED BY RAPIDLY MOVING EXTREMELY HEAVY SNOW SQUALLS THAT COULD ACTUALLY LEAVE SOME PEOPLE WITH UP TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW IN A VERY BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME WITH WHITE-OUT CONDITIONS AND HEAVY HOLIDAY TRAFFIC!!!  PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!

THE LATEST ULTRA SHORT-RANGE AMERICAN MODEL IS NOW ACTUALLY INDICATING THE POSSIBILITY OF SOME PEOPLE IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK STATE RECEIVING UP TO 3-4 INCHES OF SNOW THIS EVENING!!!

Update - as of 11:00 am the clouds are already taking over at my location and the bright blue sky of a half hour ago is gone.  There are also some flurries showing up on radar in Ulster County New York and Pike County, Pennsylvania.

Update - as of 11:07 the first band of Lake Effect snow is moving through the Wilkes-Barre, Scranton area of Pennsylvania and seems to be heading right in the direction of Northern New Jersey.  It should be here in a few hours.

Update - as of 12:20 the latest ultra short-range American model continues to pound southeastern New York into central Long Island with 2-3 or possibly even 4 inches of snow this evening.
