Well, lots to talk about.
We are apparently entering an extremely active winter weather pattern
starting on Friday. It will be warm
though until then with highs reaching the low to mid 50’s today and the mid to
upper 50’s tomorrow, although there will be a chance of showers tomorrow. Then on Friday the cold front will approach
bringing showers during the day with temperatures dropping from the mid to upper
50’s in the pre-dawn hours to the low to mid 40’s by afternoon. The rain will start changing to snow between
10 pm and 2 am from Northwest to Southeast. The snow will end around 4 or 5 am with possible
total accumulations of a dusting to 2 inches across southeastern sections of
Northern New Jersey, 1-3 inches across central portions of Northern New Jersey
and 2-6 inches across Northwestern sections of Northern New Jersey. Then another storm will approach on Sunday
night, bringing the chance for more snow although a bigger concern with this
storm would be the chance for some significant icing prior to changing to
rain. The snow should start around 6 pm
and will then gradually change to sleet and freezing rain, then to rain by
around 2 am to 4 am from south to north.
There could be a significant accumulation of ice and snow prior to the
changeover, leading to the possibility of a difficult morning commute on
Monday. We will then have showers until
Tuesday morning when the rain could change back to snow on Tuesday morning with
some light accumulations possible. It
will then get very cold for Wednesday and Thursday and then a Nor'easter may
develop for Thursday and Friday. There
may then be another Nor'easter for Saturday and Sunday. So, basically right now it looks as if we
could see a storm every three days or so starting on Friday. They all have the potential to give us some
snow and ice and this will all be sandwiched in between by some very cold
temperatures, possibly dropping to the single digits on Wednesday morning.
