We will see a gradual warming heading into Super Bowl
weekend with highs today in the mid to upper 20’s. We will have a slight chance of a snow shower
late in the afternoon or early in the evening tomorrow but it will be warmer
tomorrow with a high in the mid 30’s.
Saturday we will have a slight chance for a bit of light snow in the
morning but it will be warmer in the afternoon with a high around 40. For Super Bowl Sunday it will be variably
cloudy with a chance of a shower and it will be quite warm with a high in the
upper 40’s, dropping to the upper 30’s by game time. Remember all the people two
weeks ago who were talking about high temperatures in the teens for the Super
Bowl and chances for a blizzard and so on?
It does not look like that is going to happen. Monday will then be variably cloudy with a
slight chance of some snow. Then on
Tuesday a storm will form along the Gulf Coast.
This storm will move in our direction, likely causing snow to develop on
Tuesday afternoon or evening, and becoming heavy at times. The snow may then mix with or change to sleet
or freezing rain and continue heavy at times through the day on Wednesday,
ending on Wednesday night. This storm is
likely to leave us with a very significant accumulation of snow and possibly
ice as well. If the storm is all snow it
would likely mean accumulations of 12-18 inches but at the moment the models
give us a mixture of snow and ice, with around 6 inches of snow followed by a
heavy accumulation of ice. We will need
to keep a close eye on this storm because if it does give us that much ice we
would really have some problems. After
this storm passes it is likely to get quite cold again, followed by the chance
for a very intense Nor'easter to form along the East Coast next Saturday. If this storm does develop and affect our
area it would bring the chance for very heavy snow and very strong winds next Saturday
and Saturday night. It will likely get
quite cold again after that storm passes.
Be sure to check back for updates.
