Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion
Temperatures will drop to the mid to low single digits below zero tomorrow morning and again on Friday morning. There will also be a chance of a bit of light snow tomorrow afternoon that could give us a dusting or so of accumulation. Then on Saturday we will have more light snow, probably accumulating to around an inch or possibly two in some locations. On Sunday morning temperatures will once again drop below zero, then in the afternoon and evening we will have a bit more snow, with around a half of an inch to an inch likely. We will then have just a chance of a snow shower on Monday. Then next Tuesday morning, low temperatures may approach 10 DEGREES BELOW ZERO with a high on Tuesday only in the upper single digits. THEN NEXT WEDNESDAY ALL-TIME RECORD LOW TEMPERATURES MAY BE REACHED IN SOME LOCATIONS OF NORTHERN NEW JERSEY WITH LOWS POSSIBLY REACHING 10-15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO!!! LOWS MAY AGAIN REACH CLOSE TO 10 DEGREES BELOW ZERO NEXT THURSDAY MORNING. Then next Thursday night and Friday two disturbances may approach our area, one moving along the Gulf Coast and one dropping down from Canada. These disturbances may combine and form an intense Nor'easter near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. This storm would then likely move due north to a position about 100-150 miles off the coast of New Jersey by Friday morning, bringing the possibility of heavy snow and strong winds to our area for next Thursday night and Friday. This storm is not a certainty yet by any means, however I do feel at this time that this a very real possibility. After this potential storm passes there will be another chance for some snow next Saturday night and again the following Tuesday and Wednesday. The high temperature forecast this evening for Super Bowl Sunday is the low 20's, with game time temperatures likely in the upper teens.
