The storm yesterday went pretty much as expected, although
Sussex County definitely got the short end of the stick as far as the snow
goes. Other than that and the fact that
the snow started and ended a bit earlier than expected, this storm worked out
pretty much how I forecast, with most areas getting between about 5-10 inches
and some locations getting as much as 15 inches. Click here to view the snowfall totals for
Northeast New Jersey, and click here to view the snowfall totals for the rest
of New Jersey. There were some amazing
differences within some counties, such as Bergen County where the low snowfall
amount was in the Northwest part of the county where Oakland got 4.7 inches while
Little Ferry in the Southeast part of the county got 13.4 inches. Moving forward, we will get a bit of light
snow tomorrow afternoon that could accumulate to a dusting to a half of an inch
in some places. Friday morning
temperatures will drop to around zero, and then Saturday we will have more
light snow that could accumulate to 1-2 inches.
Sunday morning temperatures will drop to the low single digits and then
Sunday night we will likely get more light snow that could accumulate to a
dusting to an inch or so. Monday we will
have a chance of some snow showers. We may
actually then get a few nice days for the middle of next week but we will
likely pay the price, with low temperatures possibly dropping to the mid to low
single digits below zero on Tuesday morning and the low to mid single digits
above zero on Wednesday morning. Then
toward the end of next week there is a decent chance at another significant Nor'easter
affecting our area. The main question
will be whether this storm gets close enough to the coast to affect our
immediate area (right now I think it will).
If the storm does get close enough to the coast, it should start some
time on Thursday and continue into Friday and it has the chance to be quite
significant. Then for Super Bowl Sunday
it currently looks as if we will have a chance for snow showers in the morning
as a cold front pushes through, followed by clearing in the afternoon. It may then get quite cold at night. Then we will have a chance at another
significant snowstorm for the middle of the following week.
