Thursday, February, 13th, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion

Tonight the rain and freezing rain should change back to snow by around 9 pm and it will become quite heavy through around 2 am to 3 am and end by around 5 am.  The snow should accumulate to 4-8 inches tonight, which could put someone in our area over 20 inches for the storm.

It will also get quite windy tonight as the disturbance from the Polar Vortex literally explodes when it hits the relatively warm ocean water.  This will cause winds to gust as high as 50 mph tonight as the heavy snow is falling, causing blizzard conditions, regardless of whether or not they actually want to call it that or not.

Then another storm will enter the Southeastern United States tomorrow night, bringing them a bit more snow.  It will then turn north and head up the coast, bringing us another 1-2 inches of snow on Saturday morning.  This storm will then turn into a mini blizzard for Eastern New England on Saturday night.

There will then be just a slight chance of a snow flurry or snow shower on Sunday afternoon or night, then yet another storm will enter our area early on Tuesday morning, bringing another chance for an inch or two of snow early on Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday morning we will have a chance for a bit of rain, followed by the chance for more rain from Thursday night through Friday morning and again on Saturday and Sunday.  It may then get colder next Sunday night and the rain could change to snow.

Temperatures will also be warmer from Thursday through Saturday with highs in the 40’s and possibly the 50’s on Sunday, prior to temperatures dropping once again next Sunday night with chances for snow likely to appear the following week, starting as soon as possibly next Sunday night.
