So, is it safe to take off the snow tires? More on that in a bit…
First though, rain will develop this morning and become
heavy at times this afternoon and tonight, quite possibly leading to some
flooding as we should get more than two inches of rain.
The rain will continue through Sunday, although it will be
lighter on Sunday.
On Sunday night the storm will move off the coast and
intensify, allowing colder air to filter into our area and the rain may mix
with or change to sleet or snow. It
could even accumulate in some places, especially in the higher elevations and
on grassy surfaces. In fact, the higher
elevations of the Poconos and the Catskills could get up to 6 inches of snow on
Sunday night. I will keep a close eye on
this potential.
The precipitation will finally come to an end on Monday
morning and then it will clear out, leading to nice days on Tuesday through
Thursday with highs likely reaching the low 60’s on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Thursday night and Friday we will likely have more
showers, followed by a nice, but cooler weekend next weekend.
Then early the following week a storm is likely to approach
with cold air in place just to our north.
Depending on the exact track that this storm takes it will lead to
either rain or snow next Monday and Tuesday, followed by a chance of rain or
snow showers and cold weather next Wednesday through Friday.
So, yeah, I would wait a bit on taking off the snow tires,
just in case.
